Assessing Summertime Primary Production Required in Changed Marine Environments in Upwelling Ecosystems Around the Taiwan Bank

چکیده

The Taiwan Bank (TB) is located in the southern Strait, where marine environments are affected by South China Sea Warm Current and Kuroshio Branch summer. bottom water flows upward along edge of continental shelf, forming an upwelling region that essential high-productivity fishing ground. Using trophic dynamic theory, fishery resources can be converted into primary production required (PPR) production, which indicates environmental tolerance ecosystems. This study calculated PPR benthic pelagic species, sea surface temperature (SST), size, net (NPP) to analyze resource structure spatial distribution upwelling, non-upwelling, thermal front (frontal) areas TB Pelagic predominated those Scombridae, Carangidae families Trachurus japonicus, accounted for 77% (67% total catch). species were dominated Mene maculata members Loliginidae family. intensity was strongest June weakest August. Generalized additive models revealed frontal habitats had highest deviance explained (28.5%). Moreover, influenced NPP, also main factor affecting all three habitats. high as well low SST negative values multivariate El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) index (16.9%) non-upwelling (11.5%). composition varied habitat; this variation ascribed impacts from ENSO. No significant differences noted composition. Overall, susceptible climate change, whereas mostly insensitive climatic factors more NPP.

Potential consequences of climate change for primary production and fish production in large marine ecosystems

Existing methods to predict the effects of climate change on the biomass and production of marine communities are predicated on modelling the interactions and dynamics of individual species, a very challenging approach when interactions and distributions are changing and little is known about the ecological mechanisms driving the responses of many species. An informative parallel approach is to...

Discriminating mesozooplankton communities in Bushehr marine coastal ecosystems- Persian Gulf

Coastal ecosystems of Bushehr are shallow environments subject to human impacts, including shrimp aquaculture and urban expansion activities. A spatial-temporal study was conducted in order to assess the actual ecological status of the creeks, estuary and marine sites on the basis of their taxonomic composition and density of mesozooplankton. Zooplankton species distribution and abundance data ...
